The presentation of this work aims to update professionals involved with aqueous film coating (AFC) pharmaceuticals on facts associated (FC) based solvent (AS). Initially sugar (SC) was the first choice pharmaceutical industry and much time efforts were spent in perfecting techniques processes SC. Long processing demand for operator skill as SC compelled them develop FC. FC substrate is achieved by spraying solution diverse polymer AS or volatile organic (VOS). Initially, use VOS preferred over AS, latter inherits problems like sticking, picking, over-wetting, many more. Momentum using replacing one aqua got accelerated from last few decade reasons safety, toxicity, stricter regulation environmental pollution, economy. Nowadays & process relies mostly due its significant benefits VOS. Functional properties film-coated depends greatly forming (FFP) along other factors process, equipment, technology, additives, others. Summarised information technical aspect AFCs rare, necessitating work. Thus gathered, summarised, studied, hereby attempting be presented a convenience way enriching stakeholders field. updating regard.
